Our Story
Mary & Berries Beauty is a beauty line affectionately named after my late mother Mary Ann. She taught my brother and me the importance of caring for our skin while still in elementary school. I had a skincare routine before I was 10 years old. My mother loved me and all things beauty from skincare, cosmetics, and fragrances. During our special mother-and-daughter bonding times we would enjoy eating strawberry shortcakes, vanilla ice, and a variety of berries.
When bonding we would share intimate conversations while she taught me how to apply my make-up with lots of fun colors. “She told me, She never wanted me to look like a clown.” And, I needed to know how to apply my make-up to enhance my beauty”. She taught me the true foundation before applying cosmetics was the health of my skin, and making sure my skin was well moisturized. In the African American community, parents did not want their children walking around with a “White” substance on their faces, and it was called “Ash”. It was one of my mother’s biggest pet peeves. During the '70s and '80s, she applied a popular jelly at the time, which was one of her favorites to eliminate the “Ashy” appearance.
These tender moments spent with my mother were a special gift of love. It was a gift she passed down to me and through me to the next generation. I want people to experience a Mother’s Love and time well spent. Mary & Berries is not a beauty product. It’s love.
